Water Chlorination

Water chlorination is specialist hygiene and Legionella monitoring process that by law is necessary to all new water systems being commissioned. Prior to connection, a mains chlorination must be undertaken for all new and existing water systems.

At Water Hygiene Consultants, we can help you be more compliant with your water hygiene systems. Water systems are a breeding ground for bacteria growth, which can include risks such as exposure to Legionella. As well as controlling these factors, chlorination also prevents diseases, it disinfects your system and it descales your system.

How does water chlorination work?

Each chlorination commences with the flushing of the water system with clean drinking water. This is done to remove any debris and provide a clean base for the chlorination to take place.

Following the first flush through, the system is filled to capacity with a chlorinated solution which remains for a minimum of 1 hour. Following this, our technicians will neutralise the chlorinated solution and dispose of it safely. The final stage of the water chlorination process is flushing the system with clean water for a second time to remove any residual traces of chlorine.
